RespondInk Student Research Fund

Research should not be
a rich kid sport.

Every rupee RespondInk earns carries a 5% commitment to fund student and independent researchers who cannot afford to run surveys. Not someday. From day one.

5%

of every rupee we earn goes to the Fund

Not a donation. Not a pledge for later. A structural commitment built into how RespondInk operates. Before salaries, before profit, before anything else.

Why we created this

Brilliant researchers.
Empty wallets.

When we were building RespondInk, one thing kept coming up. Students in India genuinely want to do good research. They have the ideas, the curiosity, and the drive.

What they do not have is access to affordable, structured survey infrastructure. The platforms that exist either cost too much or are built entirely for Western research contexts. So Indian students resort to WhatsApp forwards, favour begging, and biased convenience samples.

What we are doing about it

The RespondInk Student Research Fund provides direct survey credits to researchers who qualify, so they can run real surveys on RespondInk at no personal cost.

Free survey credits

Qualified applicants receive RespondInk credits directly applied to their account, covering respondent pay and platform fees for their research.

No bureaucracy

A simple application. A quick review. Credits in your account within days. We built this to be used, not to sit in an inbox.

Funded by platform earnings

Every time RespondInk earns, the Fund grows. The more the platform succeeds, the more researchers it can support. Growth and impact are the same thing here.

UN Sustainable Development Goals

Part of a bigger picture.

RespondInk contributes directly to four United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Every survey run on this platform moves each one forward.

SDG4

Quality Education

By providing Indian researchers with the data infrastructure needed to produce rigorous academic research, RespondInk strengthens India's research output and academic credibility globally.

8
SDG8

Decent Work and Economic Growth

RespondInk creates a new income stream for millions of Indians, particularly students, homemakers, and young professionals in tier 2 and tier 3 cities, by paying fairly for their time and opinions.

10
SDG10

Reduced Inequalities

By making professional grade research data collection affordable for researchers at state universities and smaller institutions, RespondInk democratises access to quality research infrastructure across India.

17
SDG17

Partnerships for the Goals

RespondInk creates a direct economic partnership between India's research community and its general population, making every Indian an active participant in the nation's knowledge economy.

Every survey run on RespondInk moves all four goals forward simultaneously. Research gets done. Respondents get paid. Knowledge gaps narrow. India moves ahead.

Who it is for

If you are doing serious research with no budget, this fund was built for you.

Thesis and dissertation students

Undergrads and postgrads working on original research who need real respondents but cannot afford commercial survey platforms.

PhD scholars with limited institutional support

Doctoral researchers at institutions where research budgets are thin and access to quality data collection tools is nearly nonexistent.

Independent researchers from low income backgrounds

Passionate individuals doing serious work outside the university system, with no institutional backing and no research budget to speak of.

What we believe

Knowledge should not be a privilege

Good research has historically been locked inside elite institutions with large budgets. That is not a law of nature. It is a funding problem. And funding problems can be solved.

Data from the margins matters most

The most important questions about Indian society are often being asked by researchers who have the least access to tools. The RespondInk Fund exists to close that gap.

Small platforms can do meaningful things

We do not need to wait until we are large to start giving back. The 5% commitment begins on day one, even if the absolute amount is small at the start.

We are a small platform just getting started. The fund will grow as we grow. But the commitment is already there, locked in from the first rupee we earn.

We are not solving this problem alone. But we are doing our part. And as every researcher who has ever struggled for data knows, doing your part is exactly where good research begins.

Think you qualify?
We want to hear from you.
